Account Book of the Hudson and Athens Ferry

Scope and Contents Item is a ledger of accounts of the "Horse Boat" and "Small Boat" operated as ferries between the Village of Athens and City of Hudson between 1820 and 1838. Included within are revenues from each boat as well as names of those compensated for operating the ferry and servicing it. Canajoharie and Catskill Railway Collection

Scope and Contents Materials within the collection deal primarily with legal issues that plagued the last years of the Canajoharie and Catskill Railroad (C and C RR) and later concerned John T. Mann as receiver of the company when it ceased to exist. Of particular note are State legislative reports concerning the C and C, and several legal cases concerning the recovery of funds by stockholders with interest in the defunct railroad.

Scope and Contents Map is two fragments of what was once a much larger multi-page survey map and description of the Turnpike between Athens and Leeds, NY, now modern Leeds-Athens Road. Page one shows the commencement of the turnpike at the Village of Athens, and several buildings are shown along the route. Page two shows the terminus of the turnpike at Madison [Leeds] and marks the location of a toll house. The map was composed by William Tolley on behalf of the proprietors of the Turnpike.

Minutes Book of the Schoharie Kill Bridge Company

Scope and Contents Ledger contains the handwritten minutes of the Schoharie Kill Bridge Company from its incorporation in 1810 to the dissolution of the business in 1903. Each meeting lists the location of the meeting, officers present, and detailed resultions concerning the governance and maintenance of the turnpike road and its toll houses.

Scope and Contents This collection comprises a selection of documents, plans, and blueprint maps related to the construction and early operation of the Rip Van Winkle Bridge. Of note are blueprint plans in flat file drawer 30 showing structural components of the bridge prepared by the Frederick Snare Corporation, General Contractors in partnership with the Harris Structural Steele Company of New Market, New Jersey in 1933. Survey and Map of the Catskill and Mountain Turnpike

Scope and Contents Six irregular sized map sections in slightly damaged condition and one legal size survey description all formerly bound in a single packet sealed with wax. Items are numbered in sequence they are supposed to be viewed. The Map sections are particularly interesting as they show the homes of property owners along the length of the route and include the names of the home owners.

Scope and Contents Map is a copy of an 1825 survey that was traced by Charles Van Orden showing the proposed route of a road commencing at the intersections of Main and Green Streets in Catskill and proceeding southeast along the route of modern lower Main Street heading to Catskill Point. Survey of the Loonenburg New Purchase Road

Scope and Contents Map is a survey composed by John D. Spoor for Isaac Northrop and Company in 1801 showing a newly surveyed road leading northwest from the edge of the surveyed lots of the proposed Village of Athens. The Road is shown as commencing at the river and proceeding westward through the surveyed lots (now modern Second Street) and then proceeding along a route northwest (along the route of modern Schoharie Turnpike) towards the home of Johannis Hallenbeck.
